Beard oil and beard shampoo are the two core beard care products that are required by all bearded gents, no matter how long their beard is.

Right from when you first start growing a beard, the skin beneath the beard will start to become dry. Applying a small amount of beard oil twice a day will assist to keep the skin on your chin well-hydrated, and it will help to reduce the itchiness that will often occurs when you start growing a beard.

Even short beards will require a beard shampoo to be used once or twice a week to cleanse away any sweat, dirt, bolognaise sauce and prevent a build-up of beard care products.

Never, ever wash your beard with hair shampoo! It is even more important to never wash your beard with an anti-dandruff shampoo. If the skin beneath your beard is flaky it is a sign that your skin is dry - it is not dandruff. Dandruff is a scalp condition.

Hair shampoos are designed to strip the oil from your scalp. This makes them far too harsh to use on the delicate skin on your face and they will cause your skin to become dry and often flaky. It can look like dandruff and can be particularly embarrassing for men who like to wear dark clothing.

Our foaming beard shampoos are a much milder cleanser and are designed to gently cleanse your beard without stripping away any natural oils. Our particular formula has been carefully balanced to leave your beard feeling soft and nourished. Our beard shampoo is gentle enough to be used daily if you have a particularly dirty or sweaty hobby or occupation, however best practice is washing your beard once or twice a week.

Be sure to shake our foaming beard shampoo bottle well before each use. This will help to create a better foam, and you won't need to pump out as much product.

If you currently use a shampoo that leaves your beard feeling 'squeaky clean' that is a sign that the cleanser is too harsh.

We are often asked why we don't sell a 2-in-1 foaming beard shampoo and conditioner. The answer is that we're not into gimmicks! The purpose of beard shampoo is to gently cleanse the beard. If in doubt, compare our beard shampoo ingredient list to the ingredients in other brands 2-in-1 shampoos and conditioners. Our foaming beard shampoo provides the gentle cleansing that your beard requires in a value packed 200ml bottle.

Another question that we are often asked is if a dedicated beard conditioner is required. The answer is no. When using our product range, you do not require a dedicated beard conditioner if you are regularly using either our beard balm or beard butter. Short beards will receive enough moisture from our beard balms, while mid to longer lengths beards will be transformed by using our ultra-hydrating beard butter. Our beard butter is essentially a beard softener / leave-in conditioning treatment for your beard. It receives phenomenal feedback in regards to the transformative effect that it has on softening and hydrating beards.

Our beard oil and foaming beard shampoo bundle includes:

* 1 x 30ml beard oil

* 1 x 200ml foaming beard shampoo

Directions

1. START WITH A CLEAN BEARD
Your beard should be clean, towel-dried but still slightly damp from water or after a shower. Begin by applying a few drops into the palm of your hand. We recommend around 3-6 drops, depending on the length of your beard. If you're a beginner, less is more and as you familiarise yourself with the process, you’ll eventually get a good idea of how much you need.

2. APPLY TO THE SKIN FIRST
Rub your hands together to spread the product evenly, then run them through the beard. First, you want to press the beard oil into the skin to ensure it moisturises the roots of your beard and the skin surrounding it.

3. APPLY TO THE BEARD
Once you’ve applied to the roots and skin, start applying directly to the beard. Start with sides of the beard and work your way down by moving your hands in a downward swipe motion. Brush your hands down the front in the same downward swipe motion. Then brush your hands upwards from the neck to get the bottom of the beard too.

4. FINISH WITH A COMB
To finish, use a timber comb or boar bristle brush to evenly distribute the beard oil throughout the beard until soft and conditioned.
